Cardio Tennis :: A Fun Yet High End Cardio Workout
Cardio tennis started sometime around 2005 and has been growing in popularity ever since. If you are not familiar with cardio tennis it is basically a cardio workout routine incorporating various tennis type drills. It does not focus on tennis skill enhancement but rather on intense cardiovascular training. This makes it good for tennis pros and people who are new to the sport. You really don’t have even have to play tennis to get involved but it helps to at least have hit a few balls around with a racket at some point in your life.

Workout sites are popping up all over the world. There are over 1500 cardio tennis sites in the US. Great tennis skill are not required but a desire for a good work is. It is designed to run you around 60 to 85 percent of your heart rate maximum for a given set of time. It is a total body workout compared to just playing the game tennis or doing another singular exercise like running or jogging.

Though it probably won’t increase your tennis skills directly it will improve your endurance which in effect should improve your game, no matter what your game is. Some men can burn 600 to 700 calories during a 1 hour session making it a very intense level workout on most peoples scales.

Cardio tennis usually starts off with a warm up hitting balls, usually softer than regular play ball to avoid injuries and other drills like running through ladders on the side lines. Following the warm up is usually a series of interactive mini games. It follows a high intense workout period with short rests format. Ending with a cool down period the whole deal last about 45 to 60 minutes.
